Lessons Learned
Where to even begin with this game. I learned more than I ever could have imagined. I worked closely with a small team, bringing this game all the way from an idea in our heads to the front page on Steam. Not only did I learn to work more independently, able to take a feature from the design phase all the way to implementation, but I also learned how to work with a deadline in mind. Our deadlines were often tight, which made me need to get creative with our systems and logic. How flexible could I make a system for our designers to play with? Is there such a thing as a system being too flexible? The answer is yes.
Most of all I learned what it really took to take something to completion. At the start it can feel fast and loose, but there are so many little details that go into a finished product. User experience, menu flow, QA testing, gameplay balance, and of course bug hunting. Through it all I got to work very closely with a small team. Every little detail that went into the game passed by my monitor at some point or another, and it was like magic seeing it all come together.
